Penguin Day

January has been a fun and busy month in Room 5! 

Our Star Student last week was Josie! Josie brought in a few books to share with us: Pete the Cat and Sophia the First! They were a big hit! 

The kiddos have been enjoying our new felt board! We have had fun re-telling stories and making up new stories with it! 

 

The past two weeks our theme has been penguins! We have enjoyed learning about penguins! On Thursday we had Penguin Day! Penguin Day consisted of penguin crafts, projects, math, and reading! Thank you to all of the parents who donated items!

 

 

Can you tell we had a great day?! 

A few reminders: Tuesday is the big basketball game! Bursley vs. Pinewood! Some of the kindergarten girls will be cheerleading at the game and at the pep assembly on Monday!

Report cards will go home Friday.

Before winter break...

Prior to winter break, we had an eventful week in room 5!

 We spent a lot of time talking about things we want and things that we need. We had a lot of great discussions trying to decide if things were a want or a need (A few of the tricky ones for us to figure out were love, toilet paper, and cars). Each child got a card and decided if it was a need or want. They then had to explain their reasoning to the class! 

Our Superstar Student was Jack! Jackson is a great friend and we loved learning more about him!

During reading groups, we did a few math/winter activities! We used mini-marshmallows to introduce area and perimeter!

This coming week, we will start a new unit in Storytown. This unit is all about the weather. We will also begin our penguin unit!
