Despite the cold, we had a great week in Room 5. In Storytown, we enjoyed a review week which let us read some of our favorite stories again! We also began to talk about poetry!

During theme time we learned about reindeer! We even learned the "reindeer-pokey"! I thought I would share a photo of the reindeer that we made. The kiddos all were able to name their reindeer. I think you will enjoy reading the names they came up with!

This week we will take a break from Storytown to talk about Needs and Wants. We will also be doing an author study on Jan Brett. Tomorrow we will check out Santas Secret Shop and Thursday we will have our winter party! It should be a very fun and busy week!

If you are looking for new books to read with your child check out www.wegivebooks.org. This website is free to join and contains hundreds of books you can read online. A few times a week we read a book off this website in class!

Have a great week!

This week in Room 5!

We have a had a busy, fun-filled week in Room 5!

We are counting down to winter break with books! In the basket there are holiday themed books and we are reading one a day until break is here! The kiddos are always so excited to see what book is next!

Meet Darwin! Darwin is the newest addition to Room 5. Darwin has a mailbox and the kiddos have enjoyed writing him letters, drawing him pictures, and asking him questions! The children look forward to seeing if his flag is up! If it is, there is a good thing inside! (Usually green paws! :) )

We have began our "show and tell"! I brought in the bag first to show the kiddos what an educational, interesting, or unusual item might look like. I brought in my favorite book, a picture of my family, and a souvenir from a vacation I took!

Our superstar student this week was Riley! Riley brought in a biscuit book and did a beautiful job reading it to the class! We loved the animation she used while reading! Way to go, Riley!

Mr. Carmichael came to our classroom for a fun music and movement lesson. We made letters and shapes using our bodies! Thank you for visiting us, Mr. Carmichael!

In Storytown, we read Mrs. Washies Farm. We enjoyed learning about farm animals this week as well.

This week, our theme was Gingerbread Men! Look for a new post about that soon! :)

Have a great weekend!
