This week in 4th grade...

Wow! What a fun, busy week it has been! Here is a quick recap of a few things that we did this week!

Mrs. Brown talked to us about empathy in our first Second Step lesson!

The Georgetown Fire Dept came to visit us and taught us about fire safety.

We had a quick dance party Friday afternoon! :)

A handful of students wrote essays expressing their interest in Student Council. We read the essays annonymously and Janessas won the vote! Congratulations to Janessa!

We started science rotations. We are learning about mixtures and solutions. We are investing mixtures and solutions with trail mix, discovery investigations, salt water, and articles.

Alexis was our Star Student! We loved learning more about Alexis this week! :)

Have a great weekend! I hope to see you all at Fun Night!

A Positive Environment

The past few weeks we have spent a large amount of time talking about being positive role models and bringing others up!

One way we have been talking about thisis through writing. Every Monday is "Motivational Monday". I will play a short video or story and then they will be given a prompt. We started out the year with a Kid President video. The students thought he was funny and inspired them to think about what they should say more often!
Our Kid President wall in the hallway...
We also made affirmation envelopes. The students are allowed to write  positive compliments to one another!

It has been a great, fun 3 weeks! Stay tuned for more!

Thank you!

I want to personally thank every family for making this school year a great one. I feel incredibly blessed to have had the privilege to be your child's teacher. Every night I leave school, I can't help but to feel so very lucky. Your kiddos will be truly missed by me this summer. If you haven't heard, I will be teaching 4th grade at Bursley next year. I look forward to seeing these kiddos around next year and maybe even being there teacher again in a few years!

Tomorrow your kiddo will come home with a DVD that has a slideshow of pictures on it. If you would like copies of any of the photos please let me know and I can send them via email!

Have a wonderful and safe summer!
Mrs. DuVal

I appreciate all that you do and feel so privileged to work with your kiddos!

Blandford Nature Center

Friday, we spent the day at Blandford Nature Center. The weather stayed dry for us and we had a great time! Thank you to all of the families who came along with us! Here are a few photos from our day:

Isaiah and Sophia were my bus buddies on our way to the Nature Center!
